A 4,000 SF post-production facility designed for an independent film company set within an industrial building shell. Three editing studios were the core programs for this project while support programs included reception, lounge, open workstations, conference room, kitchen, client lounges and offices. The design strategy took advantage of the existing concrete block perimeter walls by locating the editing studios, private offices and conference room as perimeter spaces to enhance sound and privacy concerns, within which nestled a public zone of shared programs. As the existing building shell lacked sufficient windows, natural light was introduced into the space through six skylights, modulated by two light ‘baffles.’ As a compliment and balance to the daily demands of high-pressure projects and intense work schedules, the space was designed to be informal and intimate while at the same time possessing a strong sense of inventiveness to reflect the company's creative mission.
